THE EAT DRINK MANAGEMENT BUSINESS VENTURE FUND

 Overview

Do you have a Shark Tank idea? A passion, hobby, or skill that you have always wished you could build a business on?  Or maybe it is an idea for an event that you want to host, but just can’t do it on your own. We want to invest in you, those ideas and your success. The Wine Kitchen will offer opportunities for employees to apply to be part of the WK Venture Capital Investment Fund.

Goals

  1. Give you an opportunity to fulfill your dreams: As an employee centered company we want to support not just what  you can achieve in our restaurants, but how you can grow in your own passions and endeavors.
  2. Investment opportunities: As a business we want the opportunity to be there at the beginning of a great idea, to help support but also to share in your success! The investments will be small but meaningful to help you take next steps.

Specifications and Requirements

  1. Business Proposal

Any serious business  inquiries must have a well throughout business proposal.  This will include at minimum a business plan and presentation.

  1. Decision Process

We will review your proposal and have follow-up questions and conversations.  If we feel there is an opportunity to move forward, we will work with you to set up a structure so we can invest in you and your business and/or idea.  If there is not an opportunity to move forward with a financial investment , we will make any guidance or mentorship available should it be desired, to help you outside of inancial support.

RESTAURANT REVIEWS

We offer a $50 credit to be used at our locations when you submit a review of a dining experience you’ve had. There are six questions that you must thoroughly answer to receive the credit. This is available once every quarter to each person and a restaurant can only be reviewed one time. Reviews must follow the outline in the Slack channel #restuarntreviews and be posted there once completed.

$10/HR VOLUNTEER HOURS

We will pay you for your time while you volunteer to help our community! You may submit up to 50 hours per quarter at $10/hour.

REIMBERSMENT FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION

The cost of industry related certificates and courses will be reimbursed upon passing. (Subject to review)

JANUARY CLOSURE

After we have had an awesome year and busy Holiday season, we know everyone could use some time off.  We will be closed for a brief portion of the first week in January most years.  The exact dates will be flexible depending on how the first dates of January fall.  While it will be a "holiday" from work, it will be an unpaid break

COBRA

If you are discharged for any reason other than gross misconduct or otherwise leave Eat, Drink and have been continuously covered by the company’s group insurance plan before that, you and your dependents may have the right to continue or convert coverage as set fourth in the rules of the plan.  You should receive written notification of your right to continue coverage after your last day on the job.  Should you have any questions about this coverage, please contact Jason Miller.

IDEA FACTORY

Did you have a lightbulb moment? In an effort to continue to improve, grow and develop our restaurant we started a program that will encourage, reward and foster ideas from any and all staff members.  You are each such an integral part of the success of the restaurant and we can be a much better restaurant with a constant stream of your ideas. The Idea Factory program is a way to promote and reward those opportunities.

The program will work by helping you help the restaurant. Any time you have an idea, you should put a short presentation together (five minutes) outlining your idea and why you think it is something we should adopt.  Then you will schedule a time to present your idea to Jason and your manger.  The “presentation” does not need to be a full power point slide show but can also not be stopping Jason or your manager in the hallway to run it by them.  We want to give you ample time to prepare and present your idea.  If there is any information you need, to put your idea together, please ask Jason or your Manager.

For each presentation you complete, you will receive $50 in your next check.  If the idea is adopted, you will receive further financial reward based on the idea and category.

The categories and rewards are outlined below.  We will provide you with any and all information you might need to both generate and calculate your idea.

For example - if you present an idea that allows us to sell the check clips for $5/piece and we sell 50/month in the first three months and assuming it costs us $2.50 to make the clip,  you would receive $50 for the presentation plus $300.

$5x50X3 = $750 gross revenue (minus) 50X$2.50X3 = $450 (costs of goods sold) = $300
